APA Florida Gold Coast Section presents Awards at its 2022 Holiday Party
MIAMI – December 8, 2022. The Gold Coast Section of the Florida Chapter of the American Planning Association (APA Gold Coast) presented Awards of Excellence and Merit at its Annual APA Gold Coast Chapter Holiday Party and Awards Event at Cervecería La Tropical in Wynwood. These awards are to celebrate and acknowledge studies and projects that exemplify outstanding planning, urban design and development within Miami-Dade and Monroe counties.
Encouraging excellence in planning has long been a major goal of the American Planning Association (APA) and our Gold Coast Section is proud to celebrate our local planners, developers, architects and landscape architects who consistently provide excellence in design, sensitivity to the environment, and facilitate an improved quality of life for all.
Winners of the 2020 APA Gold Coast Section Planning Awards
Award of Excellence
Plusurbia, along with BusinessFlare and The Corradino Group, received the Award of Excellence in the category of Best Report/Plan, for the West Grove Affordable Housing Blueprint, a study prepared for the City of Miami.
The West Grove Affordable Housing Blueprint uses a combination of planning strategies paired with market analysis, developer-driven economics, public input, and successful national case studies to formulate a new housing strategy for this neighborhood. Awards of Merit
The City of Miami Department of Human Services received the Award of Merit for their Empower60 Initiative.
Empower60 is an academy program designed for older residents ages 60+ to help increase resident engagement; educate neighbors about local government’s role and impact; and promote engagement and service deliveries of governmental services. Topics covered during the program include public safety, clean and beautiful neighborhoods, growth and development, education and economic access, culture and recreation, and efficient and effective government.
