June 2022

APA Florida and its Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee are appalled by and denounce the recent mass shootings in Buffalo, N.Y, Laguna Woods, Calif., and Uvalde, Texas. Racially-motivated animosity and violence targeting African American, Taiwanese, and Hispanic  residents are intolerable.  That we must continue to post statements condemning heinous acts against innocent people in a grocery store, church, or school is heartbreaking.

We stand with the Black, Indigenous, and People of Color (BIPOC) residents of Buffalo, Laguna Woods, Uvalde, and BIPOC communities throughout America besieged by racially-motivated crimes. All residents have the right to live and prosper in their neighborhoods and communities safely.

We continue to pray for the souls lost, as well as for their families and loved ones, and to work for safer and more just communities in planning practice.
