Minimum Qualifications

Master's degree in Planning or Transportation Engineering/Planning and four years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning; Bachelor's degree in Planning or Transportation Engineering/Planning and five years of progressively responsible experience in Transportation Planning; Master's degree in a Planning-related or Transportation Engineering/Planning-related field and six years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning; or Bachelor's degree in a transportation planning related field and seven years of progressively responsible experience in transportation planning and/or traffic engineering. Planning-related and Transportation Engineering/Planning -related fields include Urban Studies, Architecture, Economics, Statistics, Business Administration, Public Administration, Civil Engineering, Traffic Engineering.

The Planning Section Supervisor provides necessary transportation expertise and support to the Planning Division and is responsible for administering the Transportation Unit's functions within the Metropolitan Planning Section. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, evaluating and providing recommendations on roadway and transportation projects at the local, state, and federal levels; reviewing traffic studies associated with land-use changes proposed to the County’s CDMP; evaluating road closure petitions; and conducting traffic and transportation studies required by the Planning Division, among other related functions.
