JOB SUMMARY
The Senior Planner position is a highly responsible professional position performing technical work required in Community Development Department.  Work involves technical and creative responsibility conducting research and preparing detailed studies on land use, zoning, conservation, housing, transportation, population, historic preservation, urban design, and other areas of comprehensive planning activities.  Work also includes review of site plan applications and involvement with other development review processes.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
• Prepares and presents agenda items in compliance with County's Code of Ordinances, Comprehensive Plan, and Land Development Regulations for Board of County Commissions, including: recommendations for additional code requirements, amendments to existing codes, rezonings, and comprehensive plan amendments.
• Prepares staff reports; analyzes and recommends amendments to the Future Land Use Map; presents findings to various boards and citizen groups as required.
• Assists in updating and maintaining the Comprehensive Plan.
• Ensures that development applications contain the required information necessary pursuant to the Hardee County Land Development Code, Comprehensive Plan, Florida Statutes and other relevant codes, as required.
• Collects zoning and land use maps; collects and complies data for reports.

Education and Experience
Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a degree in Public Administration, Planning or related field. Three years’ experience in Planning, Zoning, or Public Administration. Willingness and ability to achieve AICP, and other planning certifications.
