The Principal Planner serves in a leadership role while performing advanced professional and supervisory work.  This position applies planning principles and methodology in the formulation of various studies and projects associated with comprehensive planning, development implementation, infrastructure, intergovernmental coordination, monitoring, sustainability and resilience, housing, and Geographic Information Systems (GIS). Work involves assigning projects, and supervising the performance of professional and technical staff in the Division. Work is performed with considerable independence within the scope of professional methods and procedures and is reviewed by the Planning Director through conferences, reports, and observation of results obtained
