Student Scholarship Named for Chapter's First Black President
In 2021, the APA Florida Executive Committee unanimously voted to rename its annual Scholarship in honor of Andre Anderson, the chapter’s first Black president, who served from January 2017 through December 2018.
Andre is currently recovering at a health rehabilitation facility in the Orlando area following a stroke in 2021.
Each year, APA Florida awards one or two scholarships to students attending accredited planning programs. To date, the chapter has awarded more than $29,000 in support of future planners from underrepresented communities.
