Vote Now: Proposed Bylaw Changes
Every two years, the Chapter President appoints a Bylaws Committee to review the Chapter Bylaws and recommend updates to ensure alignment with the national APA Bylaws, as well as current Chapter practices and policies.
The Bylaws Committee members are:
- Marcos Bastian, AICP
- Jerry Bell, AICP (Chair and APA Florida Secretary)
- Gerry Dedenbach, AICP
- Rochelle Lawandales, FAICP
- Jill Quigley, AICP
- Josie Sesodia, AICP
Based on the Committee's review, the APA Florida Executive Committee is proposing several amendments to the Chapter Bylaws. In addition to the substantive changes listed below, minor wording and formatting revisions are also proposed throughout the document to enhance grammar and clarity.

Approval of the proposed amendments requires a majority vote of participating Chapter members. Voting will take place from Aug. 27 to Sept. 26, 2025. All members current with dues as of July 31 will receive an electronic notification with a link to cast their ballot.

Summary of Proposed Changes:
Article II - Chapter Purposes and Activities
- Updated reference to specialty CM requirements.
- Added reference to APA Code of Conduct and AICP Code of Ethics.
Article III - Definitions
- Updated Executive Committee definition to include the new "First Legislative Liaison” position, and to change “Faculty Representative” to “University Representative”.
- Expanded definition of “Member” to include “Chapter-only” and “Section-only” members.
Article VI - Chapter Officers, Executive Committee, Electronic Voting, Terms of Service and Removal
- Updated Executive Committee section to include the new "First Legislative Liaison” position, and to change “Faculty Representative” to “University Representative”.
Article VII - Duties of Executive Committee Members
- Revised to reflect the former “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion” committee’s name change to the “Planning for All” committee and to change “Faculty Representative” to “University Representative”.
Article VII - Nominating Committee Elections
- Revised to reflect the former “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion” committee’s name change to the “Planning for All” committee and to change “Faculty Representative” to “University Representative”.
- Revised the “Legislative Policy Committee” and “Legislative Leadership Team” sections to include the new “First Legislative Liaison” and “Second Legislative Liaison” positions, and to provide that these positions be appointed.
Article VIII - Committees
- Revised to reflect the former “Equity, Diversity and Inclusion” committee’s name change to the “Planning for All” committee.
Article XI - Financial Management
- Updated section to reflect audit cycles.
