Position Statement

I'm excited to announce my candidacy for the Vice President of Conference Services position on the executive committee. My core value is the commitment to leave things better than I found them. This aligns perfectly with my desire to continue and expand upon the work of our previous vice presidents.

Within APA, I've been actively involved in various committees and leadership roles, including serving as the FPC 2024 Co-Chair for Mobile Tours and Workshops on the Local Host

Committee, a Professional Development Officer for the Sun Coast Section Board, a Co-Chair for Florida APA’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion Committee among others at the national level. These experiences as well as those experiences obtained from planning large events at the municipal level, have broadened my understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing planners today, and have equipped me with the necessary skills to drive positive change within our profession.

My involvement with the 2020 Gulf Coast Safe Streets Summit, particularly in hosting a three-day event, allowed me to gain valuable experience organizing successful conferences. Additionally, my role as the host agency provided me with a platform to promote ADA training and facilitate sessions that ranged from federal to local levels, including acquiring sponsorships.

Looking ahead, my goal is to establish before and after conference workshops that cater to the diverse skill needs of our planners, from public engagement to salary negotiation and beyond. These workshops can provide the necessary resources and tools to empower planners to excel in their careers.

If elected, I'm committed to leveraging my skills and experiences to contribute to the continued growth and success of Florida planners and to continue the excellent work of our previous vice presidents. I thank you for considering my candidacy and look forward to the opportunity to work alongside each of you.
