2025 Bylaws Update: Call for Amendments

The Bylaws of APA Florida represent the basic governing document of the chapter, articulating how the membership and its officers interact, the assignment of duties and responsibilities, the specification of policies and procedures, and how the chapter governs itself as a body. Every two years, APA Florida appoints a Bylaws Committee to review the bylaws and identify any changes needed for consistency with national APA bylaws or chapter practices and policies. Input from the members on potential updates is welcome and appreciated.

The Bylaws Committee is set to begin to identify potential bylaws updates and to distribute the duties for researching, proposing and/or fine-tuning potential amended language. The committee will present its proposed changes to the Executive Committee by May 1. Any amendments moving forward will be subject to vote by chapter members in the summer.

The Bylaws Committee wants to gather input as broadly as possible and invites all chapter members to review the current bylaws, approved in September 2023. They are available on the Chapter website HERE. Please send suggested amendments to the bylaws to APA Florida Secretary Jerry Bell, AICP by Friday, Feb. 21, 2025.

Additionally, amendments can be proposed through a petition signed by 5 percent of the chapter membership. Petitioned bylaw amendments shall be filed by a sponsor(s) with the chapter secretary and a copy sent to the chapter office. The name, address, email, and phone number of the sponsor(s) must be included along with the petition. If you are interested in filing a petition, please contact Stefanie Svisco.
