#GivingTuesday Continues

UPDATE ON DEC. 4

Even though #GivingTuesday is over, you can still donate. We are participating in a chapter challenge that runs through April.  Any amount is appreciated. Make sure when you donate, you use the code unique to the Florida Chapter:  give.planning.org/FL.

Each year, the first Tuesday after the shopping “holiday” Black Friday is Giving Tuesday, a global day for charitable contributions. This year we are asking you to join us in supporting the communities and future planners of Florida (and America) by donating to the APA Foundation.

As you know, the APA Foundation is the only foundation exclusively dedicated to the planning profession. Through its efforts, the foundation awards scholarships, funds CPATs and conducts research to further innovation in our field. Now is your chance to ensure these efforts continue.

Florida benefitted last year when the City of Deerfield Beach received one of the first disaster grants from the Foundation to update its Post-Disaster Redevelopment Plan in the aftermath of Hurricane Irma in 2017.  The PDRP will create the framework for city operations and preparation of staff to operate and function as a government during and after disaster situations when priorities and functions change from ‘blue skies’ daily operations of the city to ‘grey skies’ response, recovery and redevelopment efforts.

Your donations have the opportunity to multiply! For the first $1,000 donated in Florida on Dec. 3, APA Florida member Mary Kay Delk, FAICP, has generously pledged to match those dollars.

Make sure when you donate, you use the code unique to the Florida Chapter:  give.planning.org/FL. You will see Florida Chapter on the top of the page.

If you can’t donate today, don’t worry, you can donate anytime. The APA chapter that raises the most funds (per capita) through April for the Foundation will be recognized at NPC20 in Houston.  Let’s show them what Florida is made of!
