The American Planning Association Florida Chapter’s Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (EDI) Committee will be hosting a pre-conference workshop at the Florida Planning Conference to help diverse mid-career planners achieve leadership positions and professional growth.  The workshop will feature Florida’s planning leaders, directors, and managers from diverse backgrounds providing strategies, resources, and reflections to help attendees advance in their careers. 

The EDI Committee is looking for volunteer panelists and facilitators for the following workshop events:

  • Presentation – “Defining Your Strengths and Career Goals”
  • Panel 1 - “How We Got There” – Achieving Director/Leader Positions
  • Panel 2 - “How We Succeed” – Sustaining Success in Director/Leader Roles
  • Breakout Groups:      
    • Brown and Black Leaders
    • Female Leaders
  • Private Sector Leaders
  • Thriving as “the Only One”
  • Finding Mid-Career Mentors
  • Open Topic Table
  • Presentation or Panel – “Resumes, Bios, and LinkedIn for Leaders”

The workshop will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in Rooms 3 and 4 of the Hilton Orlando Resort, 6001 Destination Pkwy, Orlando, FL 32819. The workshop will be followed by an optional lunch with workshop attendees and volunteers at a hotel facility.
