The City of Clearwater is hiring a Planner II or III to join the Long Range Planning Division of the Planning & Development Department. This team leads the City’s long-term planning efforts—developing the vision for Clearwater’s future and ensuring that policies and investments align with that vision.

With a major update to the Comprehensive Plan recently completed, the Department is now focused on implementation through land development code amendments, planning studies, and special projects. The position offers the opportunity to contribute to policy-based planning that guides growth, redevelopment, and quality design citywide.

You’ll work collaboratively across divisions—including Development Review, Construction Services, and Code Compliance—and with other City departments to connect long-range policy with on-the-ground results. The Department supports APA/AICP membership and training and offers a competitive salary and benefits package.

Typical work includes drafting and amending regulations, preparing plan and zoning amendments, conducting research and outreach, and presenting staff reports.
