Job Description

This position will report to the District’s Headquarters in West Palm Beach.

This experienced recreation project manager participates in complex projects administered by the Land Stewardship Section and performs a variety of functions to ensure public use and recreation projects on District lands are properly managed and delivered.

This position provides District-wide outdoor accessibility technical guidance for project design and construction, issues permit accommodations, and ensures recommendations are consistent with local and federal regulations and laws. Incumbent is responsible for managing recreation capital improvement projects including project design and engineering staff coordination and review, contract execution, procurement, permitting, and construction oversight. Provide project management support and decision making throughout the cycle of the project and assures construction deadlines and cost projections are met.

Employment Guidelines
Typically has a Bachelor’s degree in project management, recreation planning or a related discipline and a relevant specialty license or a Master’s degree in a related discipline and 6+ years of experience that demonstrates measurable career progression within the field of recreation capital development, outdoor planning, and project management.

Licenses: Valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Physical Requirements/Working Environment
The work environment is a combination of office and field work, with regular exposure to a hot and humid environment in remote and heavy vegetative areas, with exposure to stinging/biting insects, snakes, and alligators.  May be required to lift up to 40 lbs.
Emergency Management Role for this position is as a member of the Emergency Debris Operations Team.
