Medical marijuana and the hemp industry is expected to a billion dollar impact on Florida’s economy by 2022. Both industries require cultivation and processing operations as well as opportunities to get products to patients and consumers through either storefronts or product placements. The presentation will also provide information on the land use and environmental aspects of the industries through an analysis of permissible local land development regulations, preemption considerations, and public safety strategies through amendments to local fire prevention and building codes.
