Community Building: Working Effectively with People

Come join your fellow OMS members learn how to create a foundation of connection, trust, honesty, and respect that fosters collaboration and teamwork creating a more equitable community.

In this interactive workshop, participants will be introduced to a set of tools to help them engage in reflective practice and intercultural communication to create inclusive excellence in work and community environments.

Participants will engage in experiential exercises using dialogue and working with The Principles for How We Treat Each Other and will be introduced to the idea of unconscious bias and be given opportunities in a safe setting to temporarily put aside their own perspectives and listen non-judgmentally to the experiences of others.

With these new tools in hand, participants will improve their interpersonal relationships, their work environment, and their communities and develop practices of respect and community building.

When: Thursday, Nov. 7 |  5 - 7:30 pm
Where: Westmont Park Training Room | 624 Bills Lane, Altamonte Springs
Cost:  $20 per person payable at the door.  Cards only. 

1 Equity CM credit will be provided. Seating is limited to 40 participants.

OMS Holiday Party and Awards Celebration on Dec. 5

Exciting News! This year, we will be introducing the inaugural OMS Awards during our Annual Holiday Celebration.
We are thrilled to introduce three categories:

  • Project of the Year: Recognizing a remarkable project that has made a significant impact in a local community in our section.
  • Planner of the Year: Celebrating an individual who has done extraordinary planning work throughout the year.
  • Student Project of the Year: Highlighting the ingenuity and creativity of a student-led initiative.

Nominations are now open until Nov. 8.
