Dear Member,

In a press conference delivered on May 27, Governor DeSantis announced his property tax proposal and called for a Special Session to occur June 1–3 to address the Save Our Homes property tax reform proposal. During his press conference, the governor acknowledged that local government revenue largely depends upon collected property tax.

APA Florida knows any changes to public funding streams will impact city, county, and regional budgets. In recent weeks, APA Florida has worked hard to develop messaging that explains how protecting property tax revenues supports the strong, effective planning that Florida’s communities need for future sustained growth, long-term economic success, and the quality of life we all enjoy.

As the leading voice for Florida’s future, we’ve crafted a one-pager that our legislative team will use to highlight the broader impact that sound planning has on communities across the state. The goal of this handout is to educate our legislators of the importance and purpose of planning.

Please feel free to share this with your networks, colleagues, and local officials.

As we continue advocating on behalf of you and our communities, we recognize that each of you are important in this effort. Let us know if you need any additional information or support. After all, our purpose is that we exist to champion a stronger tomorrow, together.

Onward,

Allara Mills-Gutcher, AICP

APA Florida President
