These videos are to help demonstrate the role of planners in our communities and the benefits of APA Florida membership. Planner's Toolkit Livable Florida: Planning for Sustainable Communities
Welcome to APA Florida’s sustainable planning toolkit. These pages are intended as a resource for Florida planners as we work toward creating sustainable communities while attempting to develop adaptation and mitigation strategies to address the impacts of climate change and preserving the environment that we live in. We hope this toolkit is clear and easy-to-use, and that it provides planners with a starting point for learning about tools and strategies for integrating sustainability into comprehensive, long-term planning in Florida. This site features brief summaries of identified tools and projects, with links for accessing more detailed information.
Developing Future Planners Kindergarten - 12th Grade Teaching Guides
APA Florida has developed a series of teaching guides to help you teach kindergarten through high school students about what a planner does and understand more about how communities are planned. Using Common Core Standards, the guides provide materials that will help you to be an effective facilitator in the typical K-12 school classroom. Each guide will help you to reach out to educators, prepare materials, provide an agenda, and give you a step-by-step curriculum to follow.
