 Position Statement

APA-FL: Uniting Planners Across Florida

As the State of Florida’s most diverse and respected planning organization, APA-Florida is in a unique position to bring together Florida’s planners.  By providing an array of training, networking, and advocacy resources, APA-FL facilitates opportunities for planners to share and learn from one another.   By ensuring these activities consider the many different facets of the planning profession, APA Florida is able to connect different planning disciplines and areas of focus.  By delivering training through various in-person, on-line, and in-print venues, APA-FL ensures that planners can access professional resources in ways best suited to their personal needs.  By locating planning events in different places across the state, APA-FL provides planners opportunities to learn about and experience Florida’s many different communities.  In each of these ways, APA-FL recognizes our strength as an organization is in supporting the diversity of each member.

Building on Knowledge and Experience

With your support, I have had the opportunity to learn how APA-FL values our individual needs by serving the organization in various elected, appointed, and ad-hoc roles.  These experiences have shown me how APA-FL initiatives unite planners across disciplines, locations, and interests.  With your continued support, I will use this knowledge to improve the organization, ensure we provide excellent planning events and programs, and support the needs of the many diverse needs and demands of Florida planners.

I ask for your backing to continue promoting the growth and vitality of APA-Florida as your next Treasurer. In this position, I will focus on working with the state and local APA-FL committees to fund programs that unite planners and expand each of our understanding of different planning positions and experiences.  The result of these activities will help all of us work better together and better prepare us for new planning opportunities.
