Seeking Volunteers for Chapter CPAT

APA Florida is relaunching its community-focused initiative known as the Community Planning Assistance Team (CPAT) and is looking for planning professionals who want to help. This program is designed to provide no-cost, professional planning support to Florida communities that may lack the financial resources to pursue critical development or revitalization projects on their own.

Through CPAT, volunteer teams of experienced planners — representing a range of disciplines — partner with local leaders, stakeholders, and residents to tackle real-world challenges. Whether the issue is economic development, housing, transportation, or land use, CPAT teams work directly with communities to develop actionable strategies that reflect local values and priorities.

Each team is carefully selected based on the specific needs of the project, ensuring that the right expertise is brought to the table. The goal is not to impose outside solutions, but to support local decision-making with professional insight and proven planning tools.

At its core, the CPAT program is about empowering communities, encouraging civic engagement, and delivering results without burdening taxpayers. It’s a model of responsible, volunteer-driven service that strengthens Florida’s communities from the ground up.
